Internet is so great to help us build communities of like-minded people.
I’m always amazed to discover that I am not alone in my universe. Because sometimes, by spending most or our time with the same people who in the end, we didn’t choose like colleagues or even family, we end up thinking that we are the only person on earth pursuing a dream that might seem bizarre to most of them.
When I say to people that I hate “working” because I could find a better use of my time on earth than repeating the same stupid tasks again and again and again to obtain the same results over and over again, I can see in their eyes that they think I’m crazy! But I only feel like a bird in a cage, waiting for my chance to fly away!
My plan is to add a great amount of like-minded people here (at least it’s my interpretation that they are like-minded). They may not have all the same opinions on everything but they have one thing in common : they value freedom and they work hard to achieve it!
Jacob Lund Fisker – Retired at 30 years old!
Okay! This guy rocks! He became financially independent at 30 years old! He’s astonishing and famous in the community.
If you’re interested in knowing more about how he did it, I highly suggest you read his book. It might change your life.
Jason Fieber – saved more than 100,000$ in 3 years with a modest salary!
I’ll simply quote what Jason replied to me when I told him he was truly inspiring :
I have a dream that is so powerful to me, and I’m doing everything I can to make it come true. Life is precious and short, and so I want to make it as wonderful and long as I possibly can. As such, slowing time way down is imperative. Sometimes I get so busy that time just flies by, and it really pisses me off when that happens. It just motivates me to try even harder and reach ever further for freedom.
Jason is fully invested in dividend growth stocks. His portfolio is going to deliver over 5000$ in dividend income this year after only a little more than 3 years in investing in the stock market!!! He can be proud of himself. Get inspired too! Take a look at his blog!
Bob from ChristianPF.com! He got out of the rat race!
I’m sorry Bob, but I have to quote this from your “about me” page. English is not my first language and you expressed exactly what I’ve always felt like. I couldn’t have said it better :
A little over a year ago I ventured out into self-employment after spending much of the previous decade in the “Rat Race”. For most of that time I was a glorified pencil-pusher in the corporate abyss of a Fortune 500 company.
I was a pawn in the corporate version of Henry Ford’s technological breakthrough: the assembly line. I had a specific thing I was supposed to do each day. Creativity was not required, valued, or even tolerated. The corporate machine’s wheels were spinning and everyone seemed happier when you left “good enough” alone.
www.christianpf.com is an amazing blog! With tons of posts about finance, you’ll find what you’re looking for!
Dividend Growth Investing And Retirement
I don’t know what his name is but this guy rules! Based on his “about me” page, he’s in his mid-twenties and he’s an accountant. His strategy for freedom? Guest what! It’s dividend growth investing. His method of analysing stocks is straightforward, rational and fully explained on his blog. He also publishes his stock analysis and target prices on his watch list. In brief, he’s doing the job for you!
He’s young but he already has a nice stream of dividends averaging more than 250$ per month! I wish I would have known about these techniques ten years ago!
Keith Park from www.divhut.com
Keith Park recently created a WordPress blog about dividend investing. In his low forties, his goal is to live a balanced life. He’s not the typical frugal dividend investor we can find in this community of bloggers. Life can end anytime. Just get the most out of it while you can!
He started buying stocks a long time ago, but became a dividend investors only recently in 2007.
While he loves travelling and having fun along the road he has still managed to create himself a 2000$ (growing) per year stream of dividend income. He does not plan to retire early as I do but please have a look at his portfolio! The guy knows what he’s doing.
I wish I had started investing in 2009. The S&P500 gained almost 175% since the crash!
He’s also a self-employed internet entrepreneur! Wow! I’m always impressed to realize that it really is possible.
Honestly, if I could make a decent income working from the net, I’d probably quit my day job faster than planned and live from both my dividend income and online income. Working with my laptop from anywhere in the world would just be great! Not being tied to an office and the 9@5 is really what I seek for!
I wish him all the best!
The guy is a lawyer and like me, his goal is to retire over 25,000$ in dividend income. He’s already built a great income portfolio of +/- 250,000$ worth of stocks yielding almost 12,000$ per year. He’s almost half way!
Keep going my friend!
Here are other blogs that I regularly visit :
Dividend growth blog from a fellow dividend growth investor who lives in Spain. If you want to practice your spanish and see how he makes this strategy work from Spain, that’s the place to go!
Dividend growth investing from the point of view of a retired guy in his low 60’s. It’s a recent blog, but it can give someone a whole new perspective about dividend growth investing in a later life stage.
I also visit other blogs about money in general, working from home, saving tips, living abroad etc… Here are some great blogs :
A great blog about money in general. Jeremy as been kind enough to consider adding my blog to his Top Finance Blog list. This list gives a lot of cool information about blog traffic and rank finance blogs by popularity.
It’s a blog I came across recently where J.Money shares the best posts about money that he found on the web. He also has a blogger’s net worth list on which I asked to be added. It’s definitely a pretty interesting blog.
This is the place to go if you wish to find sideline ideas.
This is an amazing blog written in english but about a french girl who traveled to world seeking for her own freedom. She has settled in Guatemala where she owns some kind of small hotel/guest houses that you can rent. It’s a dream that came true through hard work, savings and simple living. Pauline has a very authentic writing and she’s living a great adventure there.
This is a pretty new blog created by two fellow Canadian brothers. They put together some great posts here. One of my favorite talks about the Modern Day Slave owned by his creditors! Debts can really put you under the dominion of someone else and as such they make you become a modern slave.
Steve took the huge decision to retire early. I’ll quote him here :
“Once you make the intelligent decision to retire early, your life changes almost instantly.”
Well Steve… I couldn’t agree more. That decision changed my life for the better. I feel more optimistic. I feel and know that the future will be brighter. Now, everything makes sense. I can finally see an end to the freaking rat race!
Thomas McGregor has been able to turn his blogs into a money-making machine very fast. I just discovered it but niche-sites and making money blogging are obviously subjects of high interest for me. INeedMoneyAsap is a very interesting personal finance blog. Pay him a visit.
This is a spanish blog about financial freedom.
