I knew it was possible to do it! For only 13$ I finally found a PR4 domain at the GoDaddy auction with a pretty clean backlink profile. Plus, there previously was a blog hosted on this domain which is a good sign! I only bought the domain though, not the content and I will have to write new content on it.
I’m pretty happy with my purchase and I will start a french blog with my girlfriend on that domain. Given its PR, page authority and domain authority, it should be easier to rank in the search engines for long tail keywords. That’s how you can build on someone else’s work instead of starting from scratch.
Getting a blog from nothing to PR4 is no easy task for sure. None of my websites reached that rank yet and I’m even far from it. QuitYourDayJob101 is a PR 0 blog… So, buying an expiring domain from its owner is, from my own point of view, a great thing to do! It can help you to start with your head above the water and get organic traffic more easily.
This website will be about our journey from meat eaters to vegetable eaters (vegans)! Saying goodbye to my steak was no easy task but I’m happy I did. I haven’t had meat in 6 month and I feel better and healthier then ever in my life. I’m still not 100% vegan yet though. I still eat cheese and eggs once in a while and some fish or seafood too on some occasions (restaurants mostly). But, through that experience I’ve learned a lot about animal exploitation, about the food industry and all the crap they have put in the food chain, about nutrition and I’ve also learned a lot of new recipes.
Plus, veganism is in a strong up trend! This is not a fad, it’s a movement and it’s growing as you can see by this chart from Google Trend.
The previous blog hosted on the domain name was about veganism and living a “green” life. We will pursue on the subject as it is something that my GF and I both have in common.
Why in french? Well, my girlfriend doesn’t speak english and it’s also easier for me to write in french. Plus, there is a lot less competition in french so I should be able to rank this blog easily on the first page of search engines for a couple of interesting long tail keywords. I’ll monetize it with ads.
This will be an interesting project as I’m currently experimenting a lot of changes in the way I eat. It’s not always easy, especially at the restaurant or when we get invited for dinner by family or friends (they don’t invite us as often actually…). I had a lot of arguments with family, friends and colleagues about my “new way of life” in the past months. It seems that not eating meat is something big… Actually, I don’t eat bananas because I don’t like it and never had to discuss that with anyone at all but not eating meat is seen as something very very big around me.
