I’m happy to announce that I have launched a new niche site about making your own booze from home.
As you know if you follow my journey a little, I want to retire early over my passive income. While my main strategy is to invest in dividend growth stocks, I also would love to make money online… enough money to even consider quitting my day job as soon as possible! That’s no easy task for sure!
Back in 2011, I had written a 150 pages ebook about how to make your own booze from the comfort of your home. My plan was to become rich like Amanda Hocking selling ebooks until I realized that it was not going to be easy!! You do all the work and others are making most of the money… Amazon kindle takes 30%. IRS another 30%. CRA takes its cut too… you end up earning bread crumbs… ah well… such is life! 🙂
I soon realized that it would be a lot of complications for not a lot of money… not worth the trouble! So I took it off the market very fast, forfeited my “income” and it was lying in the dust of my hard-drive ever since…
Recently, while thinking about how I could improve my online income I thought hey! why not resuscitate that ebook and start a new niche site with it. I will try my hand at making money as an affiliate instead of selling it as a product!
So this website is dedicated to making booze from home. I’ll show the world how to make wine, beer, cider, mead, cyser, perry and so on. It’s a website I could grow into several directions. I could eventually write about how to make liquors, how to make soda, share cool drink recipes and so on… It’s a lot of fun and one of my true passion indeed.
There is a lot of competition in that niche but I write in french which is a niche in itself so it should help me find my hot spot. I’ve published most of the book already. This is the core of my website and I didn’t use any “keywords” yet. I just wrote naturally. But, I’ve started my keyword research and all of my future posts will designed around long tail keywords with the lowest competition possible and the largest search volume possible. I seek for 1000 search volume per month and less than 10000 exact matches. I’ll also try another tip that someone gave me and focus on hyper long long tail keywords with very low volume and very very low “allintitle” competition.
I use the Google Adwords keywords tool to find great keywords.
I’ll try to monetize this website with the help of Amazon associates and with Adsense too. It will be my first “affiliate” niche site. Wish me luck! I already know it’s not going to be easy because french Canadians usually buy from Amazon Canada. But, there were almost no suppliers in that niche on Amazon Canada. Visitors from France usually buy from Amazon France and I’m not an affiliate yet… I currently refer my visitors to Amazon.com but I may eventually spot other affiliation opportunities, maybe an online Canadian retailer or Ebay. I’ll see.
I’ve also decided to try my hand at a new template, the free Customizr template. It’s really a cool one with a lot of possibilities. I’m still learning about it and will probably modify many things on the website eventually, but for now, it does the job!
Do you own niche sites? How do you monetize them?
