I want to retire early over my passive income. In fact, 12 years from now, I want to see myself a free man!
In order to reach early retirement by my 45th birthday, I save a huge chunk of my salary (typically 40%) and invest it in dividend growth stocks to create multiple sources of passive income on which, one day, I’ll be able to rely on to pay for all my expenses.
November has been a pretty busy month for me, not busy investing, but busy learning new stuff.
In order to retire, dividend income is my main approach, but I’m also interested in online passive income I could get from the 21st century real estate – Internet property!
I didn’t do much about it in 2014, but I hope to do better in 2015! I will have to anyway!
I’m currently working for a company who is restructuring. I don’t know if I’ll still have a job 2 weeks or 2 months from now. hopefully I will, but no one knows. And, I’ve always been interested in working from home and internet entrepreneurship. It’s about time I kick my ass and get results!
I’m learning from great teachers about how to create a niche website, rank it high in Google and make a lot of money from it! I’m glad to tell that these things are working and that I’ve been able to rank a website on page one for many of my focus keywords in less than a month. It’s a very small niche though and I don’t expect to make a lot of money from it, but it was a test and I’ve proven to myself that it can actually work!
Let’s see my november results :
Over the single month of november 2014, my global passive income has been 89.39$, pretty consistent with my october income. Most of that income came from dividends.
Dividend passive income
I’m sad to announce that I haven’t bought any stocks in november. I have 1300$ in my brokerage account sitting there and also a couple hundreds in a cash account waiting to be transferred into my brokerage account. So, I’ve got money to invest, but couldn’t pick a stock. They are all so expensive right now…
I could have added to my AFL position which is pretty stalled around 59-60$ but I didn’t feel it was the right place to put my money for now. I could have bought Canadian stocks… There were good opportunities out there but my money is in my RRSP (registered account for retirement) and I can’t move it easily out of this account so it was too much of a hassle. I want to use my RRSP to invest in US dividend growth stocks only.
In the end, I simply decided to stay put and wait for a better entry point. I needed to stockpile some cash anyway.
So, my dividend passive income is still at 1139.18$ per year.
Online ranking and income
This month I only received online income from Adsense. It’s a meager 11,89$… Not much, and half what it had been in october, but 3 times what it used to be a couple of months ago. So I can at least say that my adsense income is relatively consistent. It’s weird though because I had almost twice as much traffic in november then what I had in october… More traffic does not always equals more income I guess.
QuitYourDayJob101 was ranked 2,622,583 in Alexa on november 5th 2014 with 30 backlinks. It now ranks 2,026,817 and has 51 backlinks! That’s a nice improvement here.
I spent most of this month building a micro-niche site to learn about recent SEO techniques and I’m pretty amazed by what I have achieved so far. My new website now ranks on page 1 with most of my focus keywords. Right! You heard it! In less than a month, I’ve been able to rank on page 1 on Google!
But, I don’t expect this website to be a very lucrative one since it’s a french website with very low monthly searches but I had a lot of fun putting it together. If I can rank on page one eventually for almost all the keywords in the niche, then it could become interesting. I’m still working on it and even bought a book to extend my knowledge on the subject a little more. I want that micro-niche site to be an authority site and I plan to add posts here and there over the long run.
With my new knowledge in hand, I’ve also decided to make some changes here and optimize my blog a little. It’s going to take some time since it became a huge blog with tons of articles over the last year, but I’m sure it’s going to be worth it over the medium and long term.
I’ve changed my WordPress template for a MyThemeShop template (affiliate link). It offers more flexibility than my old theme.
Over the last month, I’ve also signed up for a new affiliate program with MyThemeShop. I was so amazed by how great their theme were that I couldn’t resist but spread the word. I haven’t made any money yet there but it’s another source of diversification.
Clickbank received 232 referrals from my QuitYourDayJob101 blog but registered no sales… The conversion rate is pretty low there. I’ll have to make a better optimization of my referrals I guess. Most of the traffic I get from Google and to my Clickbank affiliate account comes from only one page on this website.
Amazon received 32 clicks but no sales were registered there either.
They say that knowledge is power. They also say that time is money. I have some free time and now, a new knowledge in hand. I will work hard to increase my online income over the next following months. I can’t wait to test my new knowledge and see results here.
How about you? Do you have online passive income? What is your technique?
