I love pizza! I could eat pizza in the morning, for lunch and dinner everyday! Okay maybe not! But seriously I just enjoy eating a good pizza like most americans.
I also love buying dividend growth stocks in order to reach early retirement and I don’t know if it’s the same in your region, but it seems like pizza price has increased a lot in recent years! Here in Canada, in my hometown, it costs almost 30$ to buy a very good all-dressed medium pizza! It used to cost half of this a couple of years ago. And if you want to add coke and french fries… wow! The bill adds-up very fast!
I’m not a cheap guy and I’m okay with paying for restaurant food once in a while. But in order to reach early retirement I have to cut down costs here and there to be able to save a huge part of my salary to invest it in my financial freedom. Restaurants can cost a lot and food is often a lot better when cooked at home.
I love pizza, I love investing and I also love cooking!
Here is my recipe for the greatest homemade pizza ever (to my own tastes)!
The first secret of a good pizza is the dough. You can do this recipe by hand or with a bread machine. I personally use a bread machine. If you use the machine, don’t heat the water and oil. The machine will do it for yourself.
Instant pizza dough
Gives 2 pizzas 12 inches
Donne: 2 pizzas 12 po. ou
5 1/2 cups of flour
1 pouch of instant yeast (I use Fleischmann)
1 ½ teaspoon of salt
2 cups of water
¼ cup of vegetable oil
With a bread machine :
If you do it in a bread machine, put the wet ingredients first, then add the flour and the salt. Dig a small hole on the top of the flour and put drop the yeast there (do not let the yeast touch the wet ingredients yet).
Select the dough button and press start!
By hand :
Keep 1 cup of flour aside.
Mix the rest of the flour, the salt and the yeast in a big bowl.
Heat both the water and vegetable oil at 125-130 degrees fahrenheit (until hot to the touch).
Mix with the rest of the stuff in the bowl and incorporate slowly the rest of the flour to make a soft dough.
Knead dough during 4 to 6 minutes.
Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into 2 portions. You can freeze it for later usage.
The magic pizza sauce!
This recipe gives approximately 3 cups.
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking : 1 hour
This sauce can be frozen for later usage
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 cup of onions thin sliced
3 or 4 cloves of garlic thin sliced
1 can of italian tomatoes (28 oz)
1 can of tomato pasta (5 ½ oz)
1 tablespoon of dried oregano (or a little more if you like the taste)
1 teaspoon of basilica
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons of sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Heat olive oil in a large enough pan to hold all the ingredients.
Cook the onion and let brown a little (5-7 minutes) while mixing frequently. Add the garlic. Let cook for a minute then add tomatoes and all the juice in the can, the tomato pasta, oregano, basilica, bay leaf, sugar, salt and the black pepper.
Cook to a boil then lower the heat to the minimum and let sim. Do not cover and mix frequently for approximately 1 hour. The sauce must be thick. Take off the bay leaf, taste and adjust the seasonings to your tastes. If you want you can pass the sauce to the culinary robot.
If you like it spicy, add a Thai pepper or red pepper to the recipe.
Making the greatest pizza in the world!
– 1 pizza dough
– the magic pizza sauce
– sliced mushrooms
– sliced green peppers
– grated mozzarella cheese
Pre-heat the oven to 450 F. Roll the dough on a pizza plate. Spoon on the tomato sauce. Put a lot of pepperoni, a lot of mushrooms. Cover with grated mozzarella cheese and top with green peppers. Put the pizza in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the crust is browned and the cheese is golden. Take off the oven and add a couple of fresh basilica leaf on top of the pizza. Serve hot! Or cold… Miam!

Like you I’m a modern slave, prisoner of a 9@5 job in Corporate America. They told us when we were young that we would live in a society of leisure and that technology would permit us to work only a couple of hours per day. But we live in a society of stress and uncertainty. My situation could be a lot worse and I know it. So many humans are suffering on this planet. But a golden cage remains a cage anyway. At least, I have an escape plan. I will retire before 45 years old over my passive income. This is a dream that is so powerful that I will make sure it happens. To build my wealth, I mainly invest in undervalued dividend growth stocks. [/author_info] [/author]
