If you know a little about the stock market then I guess you know that Warren Buffett is probably the greatest investor of all times. With a personal fortune estimated at over 55 billions US dollars he’s almost always been in the top 5 richest man on the planet.
Warren did not inherit that fortune. He built it through frugality and intelligent investing.
While most people know him as a value and buy and hold investor and while his company Berkshire-Hathaway (BRK-A, BRK-B) doesn’t even pay a dividend to its shareholders, it is not a secret that Warren Buffett loves dividends.
Here’s the list of all the dividend growth stocks held in his portfolio :
Johnson & Johnson | JNJ |
Procter & Gamble | PG |
Coca-Cola | KO |
Wal Mart | WMT |
Exxon | XOM |
Conoco-Phillips | COP |
Costco Wholesale | COST |
Deere & Co | DE |
International Business Machine | IBM |
Moody's corp | MCO |
National oilwell Varco | NOV |
Suncor Energy inc | SU |
Torchmark Corp | TMK |
United Parcel Service | UPS |
Verizon Communication | VZ |
Visa | V |
Viacom inc | VIAB |
Full disclosure : Long XOM, WMT, JNJ

This just goes to show that WB is a dividend investor true and through. I know many articles have been written about WB and question if he is really a dividend investor or not. His BRK holdings tell the real story. I’m happy to own quite a few of these great dividend payers as well. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Divhut,
I think you’re right. Based on my readings, it is pretty clear that WB used to be a value investor like Ben graham, seeking bargains and that he eventually evolved into investing in wide moat stocks paying hefty and growing dividends later on in his life. While he may not be a pure dividend growth investor, he happens to own and hold quite a few great dividend growth stocks! 🙂
