With a full-time job,we barely have the time to think about why we are on this planet and what we would really want to do with our finite life.
Now that I have a plan to retire early. Now that I know it is possible to retire early, I realize that there are a lot of things I would like to do before leaving this planet forever.
Here’s my top 5 :
1. A road trip across Canada and United States with my loved ones.
Have you ever read the book Volkswagen Blues? I don’t know if they translated it in english. It’s a french novel about a writer who has met a weird half-amerindian half-Canadian girl. together they follow the tracks of the first pioneers across Canada and USA.
I want to hit the road and discover new places! I want to discover the country I live in.
2. Live by the ocean for a while
I love to swim in the ocean or just lay down on the beach to listen to the never-ending waves. I definitely need to live by the sea for a while.
3. I want to publish a novel
I love to write. I already have a couple of projects on the back-burner but not enough time to finish them… Maybe I could finish them while I’ll live by the sea!
4. I want to live on a small farm with my wife and kids
I don’t like genetically modified food. I don’t like the fact that they torture animals just to feed us all. I don’t like all the chemicals they put in our food to mimic the true taste of food.
I’d like to grow at least 25% of my food. I know chemicals are everywhere nowadays, but if I can at least reduce my chemicals and genetically modified organisms consumption, I’m sure I’ll feel and be healthier.
I hate it when I see a picture of a happy family living on a small farm with their smiling cow on a milk bottle while the reality is that cows are chained to a siphoning machine all day long and that the poor animals are shotted with all sorts of medications and drugs to increase their milk productivity…
5. I want to build my own computer controlled telescope to look at the marvels we can find in the sky.
I don’t look at the stars anymore. I have to go to bed early because I wake up early in the morning to go to work… Everyday…
And even though I’d like to look at them, the pollution and light from the city hide most of the stars…
At least, once or twice a year, I spend a night up north by a lake in the forest and I stare at the constellations.
I would like to do that more often.
What about you? Do you still have dreams? Do you have a list?

Like you I’m a modern slave, prisoner of a 9@5 job in Corporate America. They told us when we were young that we would live in a society of leisure and that technology would permit us to work only a couple of hours per day. But we live in a society of stress and uncertainty. My situation could be a lot worse and I know it. So many humans are suffering on this planet. But a golden cage remains a cage anyway. At least, I have an escape plan. I will retire before 45 years old over my passive income. This is a dream that is so powerful that I will make sure it happens. To build my wealth, I mainly invest in undervalued dividend growth stocks. [/author_info] [/author]
