While I blog essentially for fun and to help others benefit from my great wisdom… Okay sorry… I should say “from my great mistakes”, eventually making a little passive income from my blog would be like the icing on the cake!
If you don’t know yet, my plan is to retire over passive income which will mainly be derived from my dividend growth portfolio. But, if blogging could bring me a couple of hundreds per month, I wouldn’t say no!
I could have written a long post about “how to make money blogging” but since I currently make less than 5$ a month with 3 blogs, less the hosting costs, I thought that it would be better to talk to you about two great bloggers from which I have learned a lot and still keep learning.
Yeah I know… It doesn’t even pay for my cat’s food – but 2 of my blogs are in french – small market… That’s my rational reason! Or maybe I’m a bad blogger… nah… Anyways!
Let’s talk about great bloggers!
Bob – no not the sponge!!
The first one is Bob from www.christianpf.com. In 2007 he created his blog about personal finance to help people better manage their finance. And, we know we all need advice… At first he was making pennies… Like me… But things got interesting in 2008 when he was laid-off from his work. Starting that day, he decided he couldn’t go back into the 9@5 rat race anymore and devoted all his time to his blog.
At that point, he still wasn’t making a lot of money with the blog but things were already getting better. Fortunately, his wife believed in him. Bob now makes quite a living out of his blog. And he wrote a huge article on how to do like him from scratch. You don’t even have to know what a blog is, he’s giving you step-by-step instructions on how to create a blog, host it and monetize it. It’s a must read!
I’ve read that post quite many times already and you know what really strikes me? I think that the real reason his blog generates so much money is because Bob is a truly generous guy. When you give to people without any other intention than to help them, there’s going to be good stuff coming in for you for sure. I think that’s what is happening to Bob!
I think I’m someone generous too… Where’s the money?
Boost your blog’s traffic
The second blogger I truly like is Jon Morrow from www.boostblogtraffic.com. He has muscular dystrophy and actually writes his posts with the help of Dragon naturally speaking. To be accurate, I should say that he actually speaks out his posts.
Jon has quite an interesting story to tell you. His life is like a movie!
Do you know how much he claims to be making per month with his blog? Over 100 000$!!! Per month?! Yeah! Per month! Some of it is passive income! And he’s living in a nice condo by the beach. Lucky him! Lucky? Well he had hard times in his life and now, only his face can move… he’s completely paralyzed.
His secret? He’s a very smart guy! First, he has found a great niche. That’s the most important part. Every bloggers on earth (there are millions and millions) must have realized after a month or two blogging, that they were preaching in the desert… (Like me with this new blog ah ah).
Boosting traffic rapidly becomes the main focus of every serious blogger. Then, when you finally have a decent pipeline of traffic, your job is to convert some into serious sales. Pay per click can help a little, but the real money is in becoming a consultant in your niche!
If you have a blog or if you are planning to start one anytime soon, first start by reading Jon’s blog. He’s the intelligent voice in the crowd! Plus, he one of the most funny guy on earth. When you read him, you are under the impression that he’s your older brother. He’s going to tell you the real stuff and even tell you that you are stupid on some occasions!
Who are you favorite bloggers?

Like you I’m a modern slave, prisoner of a 9@5 job in Corporate America. They told us when we were young that we would live in a society of leisure and that technology would permit us to work only a couple of hours per day. But we live in a society of stress and uncertainty. My situation could be a lot worse and I know it. So many humans are suffering on this planet. But a golden cage remains a cage anyways. At least, I have an escape plan. I will retire before 45 years old over my passive income. This is a dream that is so powerful that I will make sure it happens. To build my wealth, I mainly invest in undervalued dividend growth stocks. [/author_info] [/author]
